This is the original raison d'etre of this blog...to have a place to put my paintings. I am a late-in-life painter, mainly self-taught except for some great short-term seminars and local project classes. Because a lot of my work has been originally designed by someone else, I wish to give them the proper credit. So this is arranged generally by design artist, in no particular order, except that the paintings that are my creation are, of course, first. I do not take very good photographs. Therefore, many of the images have camera glare spots, poor lighting, etc.; just plain poor quality. One of these days, I'll learn how to do it right.

In 2006, I was commissioned by the Averas to paint their dogs, a German short-haired pointer and a wire-haired dachsund, so that they would look like royalty. The dachsund had an adorable face with unique eyes, so it took me many, many paintovers to get it right. It is the only time I have painted a commissioned project, and I was so very nervous about it. It is so much easier to just do things as you like it, rather than to please a client. I had to rely on the 50 or so photos I took of the dogs, and I've already told you about my photography skills (or lack thereof).Acrylic on wood, approx. 32x42
This was painted for Emerald Coast RV Resort in Panama City, FL in 2009. They had a big sign that had a very simple stylized beach scene with palm tree in shades of bluegreen that had faded out and needed repainting, but the campworker who took it down for me very nicely painted over the old picture with a heavy white primer, so I had to make up my own picture. This is my first finished seascape. It sits proudly outside in the strong sunlight...I wonder how long it will last before it fades away? Shirley Wilson http://www.ladybugart.com/
I painted this for my forever friend Joann. She is the redhead on the left and I am the blonde on the right, and thus, the title, In Our Dreams. This is acrylic on a wood plaque, approximately 9x12, with a scrapbook paper frame/border and gold ribbon trim.
Sherry C. Nelson http://www.sherrycnelson.com/
Sherry Nelson is a fabulous wildlife/flower painter who lives in the Southwest. I have a lot of unfinished projects with Sherry's designs and hope I can get them done soon and post them.

I have had several seminars with Bill and have loved each one of them. He is another one of those great teachers.

This is another great wildlife and domestic animal artist. I believe she lives in the Northwest. One of her absolutely fantastic paintings is of an endangered mountain gorilla.

Our local animal shelter was having an auction to raise money, and I painted this specifically for that purpose. I called it "First Love." Horse ranches are a big part of our little town in northern Florida so I was hoping it would be popular and make some money for the shelter. But when it was put up for bid, the auctioneer had had quite a bit to drink and apparently was not very impressed with it. So he didn't even take it around for everybody to see and quickly sold it for only about $75. I was uncomfortable to begin with (I don't like to be the center of attention), and when it was handled that way, I kind of wanted to fade into the chair. So I missed a wonderful opportunity of getting the name of the young lady who was quite thrilled with getting the painting. Sometimes we get too much into ourselves to see the jewels that pass our way. I hope to never make that mistake again.

I have attended several of Elizabeth's classes over the past several years. Her still lifes were always beautiful, but she has just gotten better and better each year. She has now won several awards and is shown in many galleries.

Your work is wonderful! I have enjoyed so much seeing these posted paintings of yours. Isn't it terrific that you had a photo of the painting that was sold at auction? It is my favorite!
